CHRISTIAN – MUSLIM CO-OPERATION IN GREAT BRITAIN

Project:

CHRISTIAN – MUSLIM  CO-OPERATION IN GREAT BRITAIN

At present there is a lot of fear  in connection with the arrival of refugees from Syria and other Muslims countries to the members states of the EU. The  Inter-Institutes Migration Research Unit of the CardinalStefan Wyszynki University in Warsaw - in connection with the Council of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate for  Migration -  is preparing a project aiming to show the co-operation between Church and Muslim institutions in Great Britain. The UK was chosen for the project because it has a long experience of relationship between Christian and Muslim communities.

The project will have three levels:

1) High  level:  Vatican – Muslims countries, Muslim institution/communities in Europe;

2) Middle level: Catholic Church in England and Muslim organizations  in Great Britain;

3) Grass-root level: Churches and Mosques in area parishes administrations.

The last part is the most important in the project because it is showing real co-operation and it must be done in scientific way to prove real activity, possibility and the  necessity of co-operation.  The result of the project will be published in Polish and English language and could help to reduce  the fear which is now in our countries. Hopefully it will also initiate cooperation  in areas where there is little or no cooperation  at this time.
